Physical Fitness for You & Your Family

As National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, May is suggested as an ideal time to celebrate active living! Regular exercise is a critical part of staying healthy and people who are active live longer, feel better and are happier.

The key is to find the right exercise for you. If it's fun, you are more likely to stay motivated. You may want to walk with a friend, join a class or plan a group bike ride. If you've been inactive for a while, use a sensible approach and start out slowly. Physical fitness doesn't always have to be about racing, winning or competing in order to be fun and healthy.

Physical exercise can also be a fun family activity. The biggest key to success is making it fun. Whether that mean a daily walk to the park after dinner, a family bike ride or a game of catch in the backyard, keeping the activity fun and lighthearted takes the pressure off and makes kids more likely to enjoy themselves and want to keep doing active things.

An enjoyable fitness experience that works well for you can mean lifelong health, increased well-being and a happier life. Use the links below to learn more about recommended fitness guidelines and ways to make physical activity a regular part of your life.
