Summer Learning Skills Camp & Summer Bridge Project

According to the National Summer Learning Association, low-income students lose more than two months in reading achievement skills over the summer months. In order to help reduce this gap, 2-1-1 TBC partnered with the Juvenile Welfare Board and Pinellas County School Board by screening school age children, with low reading skill levels and/or those already participating in free and reduced lunch, for free Educational Summer Programs.

2-1-1 TBC screened children for the Summer Bridge Program offered through Pinellas County Schools, City of St. Petersburg Recreation Centers or Coordinated Child Care.

2-1-1 TBC also screened children entering kindergarten for the Summer Learning Skills Camp helping to increase their school readiness skills.

Between May & June 2-1-1 TBC screened over 500 children for these free and educational programs!

Parking is limited in and around the Rec Center and streets will be closed for event activities.

We will receive a table and 2 chairs. Agency representatives are responsible for providing their own breakfast and lunch, and must stay until the last family goes through (1:00pm). Tables must be cleared at the end of the day, leaving no agency materials.

Children in the company of legal guardians can receive FREE physicals, immunizations, vision screening, dental screening, meet with local agencies and receive a backpack with school supplies.

IMPORTANT: Care Fair strongly discourages agency representatives from bringing their own children. If an agency representative and their child(ren) would like to participate in Care Fair services, they ask that table coverage be coordinated through the agency so that the table is manned at all times. Additionally, arrangements should be made such that the agency representative's child(ren) will be picked up after receiving their backpack.
